RCME Cleans UpRotary Club of Marin Evening participated in the 38th Annual California Coastal Clean-Up day on September 17. Shown here are club president, Nick Nguyen and board member Valerie Layne. They were joined by other club members in picking up trash along the San Rafael Creek bed. Many other Rotary Clubs in the district and state joined in this effort. As President Nick says, "It's part of what Rotary is to make a difference in our communities. We were happy to do our part."

First Cohort Graduates in Ecuador Microfinance ProgramThe first group of 25 candidates for the microfinance program in Ecuador has graduated. The next phase of training, technical workshops, will be conducted for this group through the month of September, in different locations depending on the skills to be learned. Also, on August 27 the graduates will be receiving two presentations on human rights, with particular focus on the rights of women. A second group of 25 will begin their training soon. Nearly 500 applied but only 100 were selected--who will all go through a similar program.

RCME Provides PPE for EcuadorThe Rotary Club of Marin Evening has just provided 170,000 protective masks and 4,722 protective medical uniforms for at-risk doctors, nurses and medical personnel at hospitals in Ecuador. This PPE, intended for medical people treating Covid-19 patients, is being distributed to 27 hospitals throughout Ecuador including the Highlands, Coastal cities and the Galapagos. Sixteen Rotary clubs in Ecuador are helping distribute this equipment along with our partner Rotary Club of Guayaquil Norte.

RCME Provides Meals for HomelessRotary Club of Marin Evening has begun providing meals to those experiencing homelessness during the pandemic. Over 2,250 meals have been provided through St. Vincent de Paul and the Canal Alliance in San Rafael. Rotary Club members prepare the meals at home for delivery to St. Vincent's on a bi-weekly basis. The nutritious meals include a sandwich, power bar, chips, fruit and a cookie. In many cases, this may be the only meal some people receive each day. "We're happy to help with an activity that is safe for us and beneficial to many in need" says President Al Shirley. |
RCME Microcredits Create Jobs, ProsperityMarin Evening Rotary Club provided microcredit loans and banking services to business owners and fishermen in Esmeraldas Province, Ecuador. These photos show women who started from nothing, and with our loans created their own businesses in sewing and tailoring, pharmacy and baking. Other businesses included fish marketing, convenience stores, restaurants, agriculture and support for fishing boats |
RCME Prepares and Serves Lunch for Mercy Housing ProjectMembers of Rotary Club Marin Evening made a lunch of grilled chicken and vegetables for 65 residents of Martinelli House, a residence for senior independent living in San Rafael.

RCME Provides Sewage Treatment Plant in EcuadorThe Marin Evening Rotary Club provided a cutting edge sewage treatment plant for a large school and orphanage near Guayaquil, Ecuador. The latest bio-digestive technology was used to provide this sanitation service to over 1,200 people, thereby preventing environmental damage to local tourist beaches.

Surf's Up Fundraiser April 13,2013A fun time had by all. A Wonderful selection of Silent Auction Items, Raffle Drawings all evening. Music and Dancing to the sounds by The Sandy Geller Trio. President Gene started off our program with the Pledge and then introducing our room full of dignitaries, DG Bob Intner and Past DG Riki Intner along with 4 other Past DG's in the room. WOW! John Tanko, Master of Ceremonies lead us through a wonderful evening of fun and excitement. The winning key for the wine rack finally opened the lock to the 32 bottles of wine. The evening was topped off with the Live Auction by PDG Michael Fish. |

Fundraiser Committee Meeting
August 18, 2012 - 9 Club members met at Al Shirley's house and discussed a wide array of fundrasing ideas including the need to have both short term and long term fundraising goals including small and large fundraisers. It was agreed that the desired time of the year for the large fundraiser would be late February to early March. As of this date there are no other Rotary Club fundraisers in District 5150 that are posted on the District website.
