Leaders are signing a soccer ball with the message KICK POLIO OUT OF AFRICA. Please share this with your communities and with your Rotarians. As a show of support in the fight against Bill Gates signed the real ball while in Abuja, Nigeria this week. Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, gave the Kick Polio Out of Africa (KPOA) campaign a boost today by signing the football which is traveling from Cape Town to Egypt ahead of the 2010 World Cup. Gates lauded Rotary's efforts to he lp kick polio out the continent -- and eventually out of the world. Gates also commended Nigeria for making significant gains in the fight against polio and urged them to finish the job. The ball was diverted from it's regular schedule at the request of the Gates Foundation. Bill Gates was scheduled to be in Abuja to meet with Government and community leaders and asked to sign the ball.
